Throughout 2009, there will be a series of U.S. retrospectives of the films of Karel Vachek, one of the most original Czech filmmakers and winner of the 1990 Berlinale Golden Camera.

Karel Vachek: Poet Provocateur

The first complete retrospective ever screened in the United States will be held from May 31 to June 28 at the Pacific Film Archive, Berkeley, CA, with Karel Vachek in person on June 21 and June 24.

The Film Novels of Karel Vachek

The “Little Capitalist“ tetralogy will be screened at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. from June 6 to June 27, with Karel Vachek in person on June 27.
